About us

We are Eric and Joanna Higiro. The Lord called each of us separately into ministry in East Africa and then, he eventually brought our lives—and our shared heart for the continent—together. Today, we carry a deep passion to see missionaries sent out from Africa, to Africa.

We both began our journeys through a discipleship program in Kigali, Rwanda (Eric in 2007 and Joanna in 2013). After completing the program, Eric went on to serve in Arua, Uganda, and later in South Sudan, where he worked closely with pastors—planting churches, starting schools, and engaging in community development. He served there until 2014, when he returned to his home city of Kigali to attend theology school.

After her discipleship program, Joanna remained in Kigali serving with a women’s ministry. After we were married, we served together through a sports ministry at our local church. In 2019 we moved back to the United States when we sensed the Lord leading us to rebuild and prepare in a more sustainable way. Through prayer and discernment, our vision has been refined—and now, we are ready to return.

Our vision is to partner with the Rwandan Church to equip believers to engage in outreach missions. We long to see people step beyond their comfort zones, use their God-given gifts and talents, and boldly share the gospel. We believe many believers desire to serve the Lord but often feel unequipped—yet we are convinced that God can and does use everyone. Out of this vision came our ministry, The Well - a group focused on partnering with local, Rwandan churches and their leadership to equip and empower believers to share their faith.
